Thunderbird Portable

Import gives multiple copies of inbox

Submitted by SteveSimmons on July 30, 2010 - 8:52am

I've just started out with PortableApps (great idea and great software btw) but I've hit a problem with Thunderbird. I have a substantial Profile folder (lots of mails) from my 'full-fat' thunderbird installation and wanted to import that into Thunderbird Portable. I seem to have imported it OK in so far as the mails are in place and the accounts seem to have come across OK but I am seeing multiple (eight) 'Inbox' folders. If I click on any of them, I see the same content (i.e. my received mails!).

Two Thunderbird windows appears after launch

Submitted by Just Me Ger on July 22, 2010 - 3:06pm

Hi!

I have a strange issue since I updated my Thunderbird to 3.1.1. When I start Thunderbird it is launched two times means two Thunderbird windows appear.
I have no clue how I can solve the problem. I've tried to downgrade to 3.1 but the problem is still there. Seems my profile folder is messed up. If I copy the profile folder to a "new" Thunderbird portable I get the same problem.
Any ideas?

Thank!

TBP3.1: Poor design of inbox/draft/sent folders.

Submitted by Dr.Mu on July 21, 2010 - 5:14am

After opening an email file, it's not obvious and easy to get back to other folders. Saving the label of the opened file is not a good idea either. I have to keep pressing for a long time to get back to the left-most folder label before clicking on it to get back to access other folder labels such as inbox/draft/sent/trash. You should display those labels distinctly somewhere in the window.

Multiple Calendars causes Master Password to be requested Multiple Times

Submitted by tsneller on July 20, 2010 - 12:20pm

I set up 6 different Google calendars in Thunderbird v3.0.4. When I then restarted Thunderbird, the Master Password was requested for Thunderbird itself (Email), and then for each Calendar - 7 times in all. I have the Google Calendar provider installed.

I then removed several calendars, and the number of prompts decreased.

Thunderbird Portable used in Libraries

Submitted by genlogin on July 13, 2010 - 12:55pm

Hi All,

I recently had to close my account with my ISP, and had to access my email via the local library. I have tried my portable thunderbird, but no avail as their firewall does not allow comunication.
I want to use this because I receive a lot of emails, and the library only gives me 2 hours a day to use, plus you have to be on the line early in the morning otherwise you don't get a go until 11 am.
Since I have to be at work it is mostly impossible.
So, does anyone knows how to use a technique to allow thunder to read my emails?

Thanks in advance, Gen.
