Thunderbird Portable

I've used my Thunderbird on my usb since forever, but I do keep a backup copy of it on my desktop, which I sometimes access for a quickie.
One thing I noticed a while back is that when I removed adds-ons or themes on my usb, and then transfer my usb copy to my desktop, I see the older add-ons/themes I had removed from my usb, but were still on the older version which I just copied over into the same directory.

I've got some issue with paths needing to be full in some instances. E.g. I'm using the Signature Switch addon, but its settings use full paths.

The way I got round it previously was to set the external disc's drive letter to some specific one (e.g. J). Then all the full paths always point to the correct place. However, I don't always have the privileges to adjust such things on all PCs.

17 is crashing every time I try to compose an email. Help!

Just got the notification that Thunderbird 17 is available as an update. Has anyone taken the plunge yet? Safe to go ahead with this update?

i want to encrypt my emails, so nobody who has accidentally access to my Notebook will be able to read them.

I am using truecrypt and want to move the TBportable profile (lightning calendar included) into one crypted container mounted to a fix drive, e.g. U:\.

I do NOT want to move TBportable itself into the crypted container.

1) I want TBportable to know the (new) location of the profile. But how?

i run the last portable version of thunderbird 16.0.2

well in the folder sendto i copied the link of the ThunderbirdPortable.exe

it works ,but only with 1 file

if i click on 1 file , sendto ThunderbirdPortable.exe link , it opens the thunderbird send window

but if i click on 2 or 3 files , sendto ThunderbirdPortable.exe link ,it opens the thunderbird send window with 1 file only in the attachment

is there a tip to use sendto feature with ThunderbirdPortable ?

in short send more files with 1 click?

I use the portable version run locally-from a folder named PortableApps(thanks john) and will be getting a windows 7 PC soon,how do I copy the application and where?Should I just create the same named folder on 7 and copy it to there?

I was notified by a friend that I sent them email encouraging them to purchase slim fast products. I informed them it wasn't me. They showed me the email on their computer and to my surprise it came from me and sent to them and two other people. One person on the list has sickle cell problem and they are so skinny now, advising them to use slim fast would cause them to die.

Is Thunderbird stealing my contacts and spamming my contacts?

My inbox does not show any spam sent, but the contacts are definitely mine.

I tried to instal Thunderbird Portable. First, using saved on hard disk file «ThunderbirdPortable_16.0.1_English.paf.exe», then opening it without saving. Both attempts came to the same result: the installation program refuse to continue on stage «Installation folder selection», and I have a message:
«Wrong destination folder. Please, select right folder.»
I had changed folders many times, with "ThunderbirdPortable" in their names and without it, on different hard disks and directories. No matter.

What I have to do?
Please, help!

please advise

tried out TB's IMAP to access gmail account, but have a big problem

no matter that Sync options are set to download mail to local folder, and no restrictions of date or size are in place, i still can not force thunderbird to store mail locally (ie, work offline).

if there is no internet connection, than on some computers TB still shows all gmail folders, and mail headers, but no text is there.

or the same usb flash on other computer without internet, just wont show any mail folders at all.
