Thunderbird Portable

Getting Mozilla Crash Reporter pop-up. Text is "We're Sorry Thunderbird had a problem and crashed. To help us diagnose and fix the problem, you can send us a crash report". Two boxes are checked, "Tell Mozilla about this crash so they can fix it" and "Allow Mozilla to contact me about this report". I entered my e-mail address where indicated, and clicked "Quit Thunderbird". "There was a problem submitting report" is then displayed in the crash pop-up. So, I can't submit any useful debugging information, and I can't open Thunderbird.

What I say, when I close TB, it create a folder on local drive like:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Applications\Thunderbird\Profiles\default\7pp8uloy.slt\wf6dtz9c.slt\Mail\Smart Mailboxes
There are no files in it only the folders.

Even when I deleted this path, next time I start and then close TB, its the same result.

Is there anybody with an idea to stop this or to change setting or something else??

When I tried to launch TBP from the PortableApps menu, the menu
disappeared (expected) but nothing else happened. (Not expected since
I usually see the splash screen within seconds of launch.) I checked
with Windows Task Manager to see if anything launched anyway, but it
doesn’t show up on the list of active processes either.

After drilling down to the folder containing the app, I doubleclicked
the .exe file and got this error message:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version
of Windows you’re running. Check your computer’s system

I have been using the extension Dictionary Switcher for long time as I do have to write texts in different languages.

This extension is not compatible with recent versions of TB and FF and also the dictionaries have different format now and are not compatible with the Dictionary Switcher.

Can someone advise me of something similar? I would like to simply select between the different languages when writing a text.

i'm using TP9 for a while. After a crash i have to "reinstall" a clean version and reintegrate the mailaccounts. But now, external pictures (better the button "load external.." won't show up in any received mail.

To get this feature back working i have to edit the extended config and set "permissions.default.image" from 2 to 1. After that everything works as expected. But if i close Thunderbird and start it again, it seems that the config file will be overwritten and i have to set that permission again after every restart.

I've used my Thunderbird on my usb since forever, but I do keep a backup copy of it on my desktop, which I sometimes access for a quickie.
One thing I noticed a while back is that when I removed adds-ons or themes on my usb, and then transfer my usb copy to my desktop, I see the older add-ons/themes I had removed from my usb, but were still on the older version which I just copied over into the same directory.

I've got some issue with paths needing to be full in some instances. E.g. I'm using the Signature Switch addon, but its settings use full paths.

The way I got round it previously was to set the external disc's drive letter to some specific one (e.g. J). Then all the full paths always point to the correct place. However, I don't always have the privileges to adjust such things on all PCs.

17 is crashing every time I try to compose an email. Help!

Just got the notification that Thunderbird 17 is available as an update. Has anyone taken the plunge yet? Safe to go ahead with this update?

win XP, thunderbird portable 16.0.2

i want to encrypt my emails, so nobody who has accidentally access to my Notebook will be able to read them.

I am using truecrypt and want to move the TBportable profile (lightning calendar included) into one crypted container mounted to a fix drive, e.g. U:\.

I do NOT want to move TBportable itself into the crypted container.

1) I want TBportable to know the (new) location of the profile. But how?
