Closing OpenOffice on different computer

Submitted by DougL on July 29, 2007 - 9:13am

I recently successfuly set up the current version of PortableApps on a friend's computer. I demonstrated the portability by plugging his flash drive into my own notebook computer. Foolishly, I must have unplugged the drive without closing OpenOffice. Now when he launches the flashdrive on his own computer, the portableapps menu says "Doug should close openoffice.org on host 'notebook' before continuing."

Problem Downloading PortableApps

Hi-can anyone help please? I have tried downloading The PortableApps application, specifically the OpenOffice.org Portable application & i keep getting this message; "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at optusnet.dl.sourceforge.net." I've had the same message with trying to download the 'Standard/lite/basic', etc. I've tried everything i can think of, all without success.

OOo saved me hours

Thanks for OOo2.1. I had a big Word document with embedded images that I needed to extract to put into Adobe Framemaker.
Opened the word doc in OOo, saved it as a .sxw file (OOo 1.0 format), and then opened the .sxw file with winzip, and extracted all the PNG graphic files into the pictures directory - job done - 2 minutes.

Installation failed

I am trying to install OO to my USB drive, but it fails with the following error: "Extract: error writing to file basctl680en-US.res". I downloaded OpenOffice_Portable_2.2.1_en-us.paf.exe again, but getting the same error.

It has about 500MB of free space.

Any idea?
