Virus Alert

Submitted by radar1976 on July 12, 2008 - 1:33am

I was downloading the Portable Apps Lite and the Full version and my school Trend OfficeScan triggered a virus alert with the Virus/Malware PAK.Generic.01 and blocked the download of these files.

Why is this happening with Trend OfficeScan and not other scanners?
I'm worried that Trend is going to detect another virus in the apps installed on my USB drive.

Any suggestions to doing a scan without Trend sending alert messages to my boss to insure that this 'PAK.Generic.001' is not going to trigger?

Well I downloaded the new version of Portable apps menu and it talks about "Wallpaper Swapper" and I saved a bmp file in pictures but I think I am missing something since nothing has changed and the search is slightly confusing me, anyone willing to help me?

CommandPromptPortable: Target directory as parameter

Submitted by freemp on July 4, 2008 - 2:15pm

In order to be able to use CommandPromptPortable for launching command prompts from within portable 3rd-party Explorer replacements (like FreeCommander) directly into the current working directory, I was slightly changing the CommandPromptPortable launcher source (CommandPromptPortable.nsi). It reads the target directory as parameter now, e.g. running

P:\PortableApps\CommandPromptPortable>CommandPromptPortable.exe X:\foo\bar

would result in X:\foo\bar being the current directory of the command prompt being launched, like

X:\foo\bar>

PNotes confusion

Submitted by alanbcohen on July 3, 2008 - 8:26pm

I'm getting confused by the two versions of PNotes that are being put out in the Beta forums. It seems that oliverk and lamer are competing, rather than cooperating. The result is my wanting to use stickies instead. What is going on and which version of PNotes is the beta of an official release?

Just thought some network techs might like to know of a couple of jems I have gotten to easily work in PortableApps just by copying to the main folder.
