PA.c Platform 10.0 Updater freezes taskbar when updating

PortableApps.com Platform 10.0 :
Whenever I manually ask the Updater to search for updates my taskbar freezes. At the same time the PA.c startmenu also freezes. This lasts a long as it takes to search for updates. I can not imagine that this should happen normally.

Are you aware of this happening ?
Is a solution on the way ?
Is there something I can do to provide additional information ?

I am running Windows Vista x86

Platform 10.0.1 will not install

Submitted by don80449 on February 11, 2012 - 10:19pm

PortableApps Platform 10.0.1 will not install because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. What does that mean and how do I fix it?

A picture of the error message dialog box is here:

I have downloaded the Suite version 1.6.1 and it installed OK.

[Fixed] Portable Apps Update process needs a different User-Agent

Submitted by wally3514 on February 10, 2012 - 1:08pm

I'm using 10.0.1.

An update of one of my portable apps tripped one of our IDS signatures. The signature triggers on a user-agent string known to be used by various malware.

SRC: GET /project/portableapps/Google%20Chrome%20Portable/Additional%20Versions/GoogleChromePortable_17.0.963.46_online.paf.exe HTTP/1.1

Abilities to install all addition languages when update/install using built-in app manager?

Submitted by tiger2wander on February 3, 2012 - 3:36am

I've just changed language of Platform to another language and checked "use this language for all Portable apps" then tried to start VLC, gVIM app but language not change related to my new language.

I think it is caused by built-in app manager not select to install all "addition languages" when it install/update portable app from server.

I tried to download VLC app manual and then install it with addition languages then start it again, it works!

Portable fonts subdirectories

Submitted by unconventional on February 2, 2012 - 8:43am

Hi there,

Portable Fonts don't seem to be working for me if they are in subdirectories of the fonts folder. Is this a bug or intentional? If intentional, would it be possible to add that feature as I like to keep my fonts organized? Also they don't seem to be working with Libre Office Portable, out of the box, do you have an idea of how to fix that?

Many thanks

[External bug] All apps have stopped working after Linux (openSuSE12.1) upgrade

Submitted by darkstar on February 2, 2012 - 12:39am

I just upgraded openSuSE on my laptop to 12.1 which probably upgraded Wine also. Tried to run my various PortableApps like always and NONE of them work any more. The main PortableApps menu still opens and shows/allows me to select the various applications, but no joy getting any of them to run.... I also upgraded my PortableApps suite to 10.0.1 which also caused all the portable applications to be updated as well, and still NO JOY in getting anything to run. Next, I tried to invoke them from the command line and will show the results from trying to run ThunderbirdPortable.

Suggestion: Plattform menu Must work with keyboard too

Submitted by anto on February 1, 2012 - 8:27pm

With Alt Gr + Space pops up the menu, that works fine, but after then, you can't navigate to choose an app without the mouse. It seems that programmers forgotten keybord exist, very common in java apps.

It would be great is the interfae of the plattform can be used nicely with the keyboard too, and would be better if every application can be executed by a shortcut

Another launcher a use is PStart, from www.pegtop.com, wich is very light and fast, it has many options but needs configuration manually.

PortableApps folders attribute change

Submitted by irt893miw on January 30, 2012 - 5:37pm

Hi:

I partitioned an internal hard drive for portable apps. For some reason, the PortableApps folders shows as SD attribute. There are no other folders on that partition showing SD in attribute.

When that same folder is copied to any other partition, even one without an OS, that folder becomes D attribute.

What is causing Windows Explorer to "read" the PortableApps folder as "SD"? Can I safely change it to D attribute, if so, how?

Thanks

[Closed] Explorer.exe issue when opening PortableApps.com Platform/Opera

Submitted by fiishy_eater on January 28, 2012 - 9:21pm

Operating system: Windows XP Home SP3

When I start my computer and try to open Opera Portable, or the PortableApps.com Platform, sometimes Windows Explorer disappears temporarily. The taskbar and the desktop icons disappear, but under a minute, Explorer is restored again. The icons on the right of the taskbar are refreshed, appearing one at a time. The second time I try to execute a program/the platform, it opens up normally until I boot my computer again.
