First Run App Updater Never Finishes

Submitted by cutabovehost on March 7, 2016 - 3:05pm

Hello,

I installed the Portable Apps Platform on a 64GB Cruzer USB 3.0 thumb drive, and when it starts
it will open up the checking for apps dialog box, but it never finishes, or closes. It has been running for
5 hours now yet still has closed, I haven't added any apps as I stated this is the first time it has ran.
Any idea on how to fix this?

Kind regards,

Steve Hagerman

Use TempForPortableApps for paf.EXE install / updates (PA 13.0)

Submitted by t0b3 on March 7, 2016 - 4:46am

In PortableApps.com Platform 13.0 the subdirectory TempForPortableApps is no longer used for paf.EXE downloads as described in https://portableapps.com/support/platform#advanced --> Portable TEMP Directory...
There exist situations where %TEMP% does not allow to execute paf.EXE files :-(, while TempForPortableApps would.

Use of subfolders

Submitted by kermik on March 1, 2016 - 9:12am

I have a lot of portable apps, so I wonder if it's possible to use subfolders under the PortableApps.com folder?
I know I may put different apps in different menu categories but for the sake of the PortableApps.com folder not getting too cluttered with apps folders, it would be convenient to use subfolders - is this possible?

[Closed] Unable to sort updates in PortableApps Platform 13.0 (Win7/x86_64)

Submitted by atcroft on February 27, 2016 - 9:58pm

I applied an update to PortableApps Platform 13.0, and now appear to be unable to sort the available updates. Can anyone else confirm the behavior, and if this is a bug?

Update Portable Apps from the Command Line

Submitted by atactic on February 22, 2016 - 4:03pm

Hi,
I'm using Portable apps to access apps from all the virtual machines from a common network location. This saves me the time, effort, and space installing all these apps to ~ 120 virtual machines. I find that updates, however are a pain. I'd like to have one system performing the updates to the network location, and the others not. Is there a way I can run the updates from the command line? This will allow me to configure PA to not run updates on startup on all VM's , And schedule updates from only one desktop.

Thanks in advance for your help,
atactic

Stopping certain apps from auto-updating ...

Submitted by softfoot on February 19, 2016 - 8:28am

I have an app that I have extensively "tweaked" to behave as I want, but every time the package is updated I lose most of my changes, which is very irritating to say the least.

I want all of the remaining packages to continue updating - just stop this one.

I'm happy to sort out the package in question manually as I can use a merge tool to sort out the differences.

Is there a way to do this?? All suggestions welcome.

[Feature Request] Updates - Add checkbox for none/all updates

Submitted by bobtoo on February 11, 2016 - 1:44am

PortableApps checks for updates on startup and on request.
If there are many updates and I am on a slow connection, I prefer to update only a few apps at a time.

After checking for updates, window "PortableApps.com Update" pops up

Current Process
... The checkbox for each available update is checked
... For each update I want to defer, I have to uncheck that checkbox
