Toucan

Hello:

In Pre-release version 2.2.0 of Toucan, selecting the "Restore" check box under the Backup tab crashes the app (beings up window to report error to Microsoft). It happens every time. This would be fine, except attempting to expand the zip archives returns the error "Zip archive is invalid or corrupt."

Is anyone else seeing those two behaviors (crash on selecting restore, and zip archive cannot be expanded outside of Toucan)?

There is a problem with Toucan when displaying international characters in backup log. For example, Russian characters cause new lines or special characters to appear in the "Status" column of "Progress" dialog.

Anyhow, I use to backup my data to an ftp-server. Will Toucan
support this sometime in the future?

I have three computers (at work, while I don't have admin rights it isn't needed to back up the files I want which are user generated) to back up on a regular basis and thought that this might be a solution to my problems. The major issue I'm having is that Toucan will not backup multiple folders (from My Documents).

Regarding to the Toucan help, the password and repeatpassword options on the command line should be optional for running a job. But it seems that Toucan doesn't run a job, if the passwords are not provided on command line.

Example: I have a Job named 'USBStick'. When running 'Toucan USBStick', Toucan pops up an error message:

I recently installed Toucan as a Portable app so that i could create an easy way for a customer to back up their files to an external hard disk.

I created a Daily script + backup and a Weekly script + backup (plus some supporting batch files, but that's for another discussion). The Daily script does an Incremental backup while the Weekly script would first Move the previous backup files to a backup store before proceeding to take a new Full backup.

First of all, thanks Steve for the wonderful software.

I think it would be great to have an option to show only the differences, the modifications that would be done in the Destination folder, when doing a Sync preview.

For example, having 2 folders that are mostly the same, the preview shows almost all files in black color. I would like to see only the files that are not black colored, i.e. only the files that will suffer some operation (add, delete, etc).

I wrote a small script to backup my files and syncronisize them afterwards:

Backup "aBackup"
Sync "a"
Backup "bBackup"
Sync "b"

(name of the Script: "Syncscript"
(The backup-type is differential)
(the sync-type is "Equalise")

My problem: I want to use this script in the Command line:
"G:\toucan\toucan.exe Script SyncScript"
So... But it says "Creating filelist, this may take some time" for hours.

When I am copying large files (1-3GB) and I hit the cancel button nothing happens. Sometimes when I hit it the job stops after it finishes copying whatever file it was in the middle of. Other times it never stops. The cancel button needs to be more responsive.

Furthermore if I hit cancel it should stop right where it is and delete the temporary file that it is currently copying. It shouldn't say, "Wait; I'm almost done; just let me finsih." If someone hits cancel it might be an emergency, in which case it needs to be responsive.

I have the problem that all the text in the help tab shows the html codes insted of having the program reading the code, i dont know if its a problem with my installation (i have tried to reinstall it, but it didnt changed anything) or that the program doesnt can read the code, if its so is there a way to get the orginaly html help file?
