Request to manage saved backups/syncs/encryptions

Submitted by nttuzydupcpm on February 11, 2008 - 1:24pm

Small request: I'd like to see the possibility to delete saved backups, syncs, or encryptions, or even to rename them. I think I can do this in one of the Toucan text files (I forget which), but it would be nice to be able to do this from within Toucan.

This is a great application, by the way.

Enhancement request - archive bit clearing

Submitted by RogerL on February 9, 2008 - 7:42am

For Command Line users who are using Toucan as the engine for their own scheme that relies on files' Archive bit it would be nice if you could add a checkbox to "Clear Archive bit when copied"

After doing a sync with Toucan I wish the source files to have their archive bit cleared so I have to read the Toucan\Data\Jobs.ini file, read the source directory line, replace the '\\'s with '\', then call attrib with this path - it would be so much quicker if Toucan did it and keep my AutoIt script shorter!

Upgrading to Toucan 1.2.0

Submitted by RogerL on February 8, 2008 - 6:55am

I just upgraded Toucan to the latest (non beta) and note that there has been some folder reorganisation which leaves duplicate files (some bitmaps, burp.ex and 7za.exe). Size on disc 3.02M

I installed Toucan to a new folder and it produces a size on disc of 2.60M (after copying my ini files)

Is the installer lacking (I can't find any instructions which say you must install new) or did I do something wrong?

Aborted?

Hi,

I backed-up my 4gb key to an external hard drive, using incremental and normal compression. Everything seemed to work fine. Re-did a back-up to check if incremental is working and this is what I get. The file created seem to be OK thou.

Backup with Maximum Compression

Submitted by pete108 on January 28, 2008 - 8:59am

Hi,

I have tried to backup my 4Gig Scandisk USB drive using Toucan 1.2.0R3 with no success. I'm trying to back it up using the Incremental backup function of Toucan with maximum compression. It seems to start out OK. It writes to a BaseFile.7z for a few minutes and then the CPU load drop to about 3% when my pagefile hit about 1.06 Gig and Toucan seems to just hang there. I have tried this on two different systems. The first time I tried it I let the system run all night but it didn't do anything.

two suggestions...

First of all this seems like a great application and idea, but I believe that users should be instructed to BACKUP data until they feel comfortable with its stability since I have noticed several bugs of data corruption...

Second of all
I see you use "burp" for blowfish encryption which is very nice but have you seen http://bcrypt.sourceforge.net/ ? I believe this application users a more secure implementation of the blowfish algorithm if you want check it out and verify for me. maybe in later releases you can use this as a backup for the blowfish algorithm
