is it possible to run toucan automatically and regularly i.e. task schedule?

Submitted by ch90 on November 23, 2007 - 4:57am

dear all,

toucan is a great program I enjoy very much, especially the latest 1.2

I would like to set up an automatic and weekly sync operation. I don't think it is possible directly and I was thinking of using vista task scheduler.

any ideas/kelp would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,
chris

Settings

Toucan 1.2 doesn't load synchronise settings when changed from English to another language! Is this a bug? BTW the German translation is horrible!!! I changed back to the English GUI and it works like before.

SYNC with Toucan also for "deleted files" ?!?

Hi there,

just installed TOUCAN and wow - I am impressed how easy it works!
But maybe, Toucan doesn't solve my problems:

I am working on different Computers (Notebook / Desktop) with the same Data.
Sometimes I work with the one - sometimes with the other (it's not always the same with changes to sync - sometimes both have changes.

I thing EQUALIZE is the funtion I need, and it works:
- if I store new data, it'll be on boths computers after sync
- if I change a file the latest version will be on both computers after sync

mirror not working properly

Submitted by punkbohemian on November 16, 2007 - 12:58pm

I looked at other threads about this topic, but I haven't seen one that talks about my problem.

When I try to sync with mirror (as in, to mirror my flashdrive to a folder on my PC), it just doesn't do it. Nothing happens at all. The other functions (copy, update, equalise) work fine, but mirror doesn't seem to do anything.

And advice? Thanks.

Temporary File Location for Backup

Submitted by samcollett on November 7, 2007 - 9:58am

When backing up a portable drive (e.g. Source Folder is set to @drive@), a temporary file is created within that drive. As a result of that, if you don't have enough free space, that file can result in using up all the space on the drive and the backup failing.

Would it be possible if that file was kept in the temporary files folder instead (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp), or in the same folder as the destination of the backup?

Really Basic Stuff

This is the first time I have attempted to use any type of backup or synchronizing software. (So far I have only done simple, manual copy>paste type backups.) I'm trying to work in the "Sync" tab, and my goal is to add the 25% of things that are missing in the backup folder from the master folder.

I'm disappointed that the help menu doesn't clearly define these terms:
Copy, Mirror, Update, Equalise

(Equalise, not equalize? Lord Lamerton must be a Brit. Or an Aussie. Cheers!)

Continuous Mirroring

I use a PDA running Windows CE which comes with an application called ActiveSync that synchronises the PDA and a PC continuously as changes are made to files on either device.

Is there any chance that a feature of this sort will be added to Toucan?
