How can I update more than one file at once?
Bonjour,
I'd like to know (or I'd like to suggest, if I may be that pretentious) why the file "temp-exclusions.txt" is not placed in the "data" folder like the other settings.
Bst rgds from France,
Dom
Steve,
This was on the feature request list for 1.1 (https://portableapps.com/node/6765) and I thought I remember discussions on its implementation but I've searched and can't find it.
Have just tried a Synch Copy (Toucan 1.2.1.1) with retain attributes checked and the folder timestamps weren't retained.

Firstly i would like to thank you for Toucan, it is really good.
I still have a few feature requests though:
1. Support for VSS.
It would be nice if Toucan would be able to sync files that are in use (locked files).
SyncBackSE or Cobian backup are all able to do this by using VSS (volume shadow copy service) which is available in windows xp, vista and windows 2003.
2. Auto backup of every file that has been replaced or deleted during the synchronisation.
3. Real-time syncing.
Great little app -- it seems to do most everything simply and well. Of course that means I'd like it to do something more...
Could we have @year@ @month@ @weeknum@ (or if you got really keen a whole suite of datetime placeholders yy,yyyy,mm,mmm,dd,ddd etc)?
This would be a simple way to have a full backup once a month (or week) by specifying an incremental backup destination of @docs@\PABackups\@month@.
Cheers,
Tony
Toucan seems to default to saving any Sync Settings parameter sets in the host computer's "My Documents" folder. When saving a Synch Setting, no option is given to specify a different location. I want to save the Sync Setting sets onto the flashdrive in my \Program Files\Toucan directory - how can I do this ?
I was checking out other freeware sync/backup programs and found SyncExp. This program has a lot of features you need that they might be able to help with I thought. But since they are trying to make money, maybe not. So my question is, have you ever tried to ask other projects to join yours? I would really like to see this project excel as your program is more all encompassing but just needs more features.
Howdy peeps,
Was trying out toucan 1.2.1 rijndael encryption on a directory. I had two quotation marks in my password. It successfully encrypted one file in the directory in question and then froze up the main screen, chewing about 50% of the processor. I let this happen for about 5/10 more minutes. It didn't hurt any other files and i could successfully decrypt that one file that it changed the extension on.
Enhance it to allow control over what the subsequent action does, i.e allow the user, by means of a check box to fine tune the current job, and to give more detail on the comparisons that Toucan made by showing the time, date and size of each file with a transfer indicator. This would mean using a listView, something along the lines of this:
Add a header with:
Job name and the lines of text from jobs.ini,
if not at least the source and destination.
Timestamp at start
and add timestamp at end.
If it's a preview log don't have the action in passed tense,
having:
deleted......file
in a preview logfile when the user got the job wrong can give heart attacks.
oh and line up the right handside by having shorter action descriptions padded to the length of the max
