Security - Cannot decrypt... PLZ HELP ME!!!

Submitted by Compyka on January 17, 2008 - 4:55pm

Hello!

I have encrypted a folder on my USB drive. I tried to decrypt it, but I typed the password differently. As soon as I realised it, stopped the action, but it "decrypted" 4 pictures already. I retyped the pw. in the correct way, and tried to decrypt again. It only dc-ed only the last 3 files which remained and the others not anymore. Please help me! I really need those files Cry

Thank You Very Much

Mirror (Update) Error

Submitted by Riverstorm on January 11, 2008 - 1:49pm

I deleted some files on the source and ran the Mirror (Update) function from a USB drive to a portable hard drive. It deleted all the files and subdirectories except this one.

"R:\PortableApps Backup\Documents\M3 DS Real\NDS-GBM-GBA Movie Converter 1.20 (Crystal Engine)"

That is the full path but the target folder is just R:\PortableApps Backup. It deleted all the other sudbirectories and files under 'M3 DS Real' except that one. Is the total path to long or the paraenthesis causing an issue?

Directory selection interface - why not based on "include" method

Submitted by Firelogic on January 11, 2008 - 4:19am

Selecting the directories to backup (or sync) by a way of defining a (single) parent directory and then excluding all the non relevant directories under it is not only not convenient but rather makes this wonderful utility useless for me.

I'm not the one who decides the directory structure on the company server, and since defining the highest possible parent directory (whole file server) and then excluding tons of directories under it is not really feasible for my case...

Secure: progress form stalls when ccrypt.exe asks for confirmation

Submitted by dafnis on January 3, 2008 - 4:39am

Hi everybody,

I recently had this problem with Toucan on Windows XP SP2, only when trying to encrypt a file using Rijndael. The 'Abort' button in the progress form wouldn't respond, and the only way to get rid of it would be killing the ccrypt process through the task manager.
I ran ccrypt from the command line in verbose mode, and got a prompt that said something similar to this:

'The file is write-protected, do you want to process it anyway?[y/n]_'

extract issue (posable bug)

Submitted by Jazz51 on December 21, 2007 - 5:42pm

Hi;
I encrypted my Tbird data profile folder.
I then later tried to open Tbird and it asked to create new accounts, which I canceled.
I then tried to decrypt my data profile, box opened and said "starting" then
just stopped. Tried aborting, nothing, locked up could not even exit, I had to use task manager.

After some head scratching, I then went into my Tbird/data profile folder and noticed new files had been created.
I deleted all non encrypted files that matched the encrypted ones (check sub-dir too)
I restarted Toucan and everything then worked.

exclusion by file extension

Submitted by Arth-Vader on December 19, 2007 - 1:14pm

is there a way to exclude file extentions with a wildcard? a Java IDE I use creates a ton of .java~someNumberHere~ files, and when i backup my work i want to exclude them.

i thought of trying to exclude .java~* but that didn't work. so for now i just have .java~1~ through .java~25~ as exclusions.
