Toucan

Destination drive

Submitted by pete108 on March 18, 2008 - 9:22am

Hi everyone,

I use Toucan to sync (mirror copy) my hard drive to an external hard drive. I've created a small batch file with the following in it, "C:\"Documents and Settings"\pierre\"My Documents"\Toucan\App\toucan\toucan.exe office" and set a scheduled task to run the batch file everyday at a specified time.

It is set to copy c:\ to e:\. Today I had the external drive disconnected by mistake . I didn't get an error or message. Toucan was coping the files to e:\ but e:\ didn't exist.

Shouldn't Toucan check to see if the destination exist before a sync operation?

Encrypt with Toucan/ccrypt under Windows, decrypt with ccrypt under Linux?

Submitted by williamrice on March 13, 2008 - 1:23pm

I would like to encrypt and decrypt the same files under Windows and Linux, using the same tool. Since Toucan is just a front end for ccrypt and burp, and they are available for Linux, can I work with the very same files that I encrypted/decrypted with Toucan on both Windows and Linux?

Toucan doesn't Equalise Sync

Submitted by fatz on March 12, 2008 - 6:20pm

I am trying to synchronize a folder that is on my company network to a folder that is on my laptop. I wish to use the equalise function since I want to be sure that I am working with the latest version of my documents regardless of whether I am working on the laptop or at the office.

When I run the function, it appears to update the files from the company network to my laptop, but it does not update the files from the company laptop to the network.

I am using Toucan version 1.2.1.1 on a USB thumb drive.
