GIMP: Lock Toolbox to Layers Window?

Submitted by quinsam on November 12, 2012 - 1:55pm

Since I prefer not to use the single window display so I can open two images side-by-side (like 'before' and 'during/after' editing) I would like to be able to lock the Toolbox and Layers windows together so I can slide them out of the way quickly (small screen). Even better would be one of those '-' thingy buttons that sends the window to the taskbar.

[Closed] Unknown file type / Can not load nor save any other file type than xcf (Gimp Portable 2.8.2 on Win 7 x64)

Hello,

My problem :
My Portable Gimp can not load nor save any other file type than xcf. See details below:

  • Loading another format than xcf
    - When I do : file -> open -> (change filter to all files) select a file (for example png/jpg): I get a popup message saying "Unknown file type"
    - When I drag and drop a png/jpg file into gimp: nothing happens
  • Saving a xcf file into another format
    - When I do : file -> save as -> Select File Type (By Extension) : I only get 2 lines "By Extension" and "GIMP XCF Image"

[Fixed] Gimp Portable deletes saved preview thumbnails from installed StandardGimp

Submitted by burnuser on September 7, 2012 - 6:53am

In the file open dialog Gimp creates thumbnails for all clicked pictures (at least after click in the right sidebar).

The installed StandardGimp (Win 32, Vista) saves it for future use usually in the userdirectory on harddrive c:

Gimp portabel saves and keeps thumbnails correct separated in its own directory: GIMPPortable\Data\.gimp\.thumbnails\normal

But when closing GimpPortable, all saved thumbnails of the installed StandardGimp (wherever stored) are deleted!

[Closed] GIMP: 2.8.2 still getting the unknown file type error

Hi, still getting the errors when trying to use GIMP. Tried downloading and reloading it twice and the other fixes for it as previously recommended, but no go. The previous GIMP worked fine.

My computer is a HP Compaq with XP Pro SP3 and Trend Micro Officescan as the virus checker.

Maybe I'm not getting something pointed at the right place, or Trend Micro is blocking something.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Don.

This is a very strange one. Let me explain it as short as possible to
you:

I have two PCs. Let's call them "PC-A" and "PC-B". Both are running with
windows xp SP1. On PC-A gimp 2.8.2 portable runs perfectly. On PC-B gimp
2.8.2 portable doesn't even start.

The error messages on PC-B are:

Error 1:

"I\71tools\11grafic\gimp\22run\GIMPPortable\
