GIMP not working!

Submitted by mikimi on March 7, 2011 - 1:12am

Hi everybody,

I still have the same problem which is described under the post "[Fixed] GIMP Portable 2.6.11 does not open other file types then XCF".

  • I already posted there but since no one was answering I thought maybe it's because it says it's "FIXED" but it isn't ...

If I drag files to GIMP the message appears:

    Plug-in crashed: "file-jpeg.exe"
    (X:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\file-jpeg.exe)

GIMP: File types missing in open file (again)

    Submitted by hobiwan on March 2, 2011 - 10:22am

When the installation directory is moved and the user doesnt have write access for the file "App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\environ\default.env" the "open file" dialog shows only *.xcf. This means that CD or server installations wont work.

Cause: GIMPPortable adjusts the contents of the file to the new location. If this fails, everything seems to be normal, but file formats other than xcf are not available.

    Steps to reproduce:

    • Install GIMPPortable and verify that it works correctly
    • Move (dont copy!) the directory to a different location

Malicious File in Gimp Portable Download?

    Submitted by Sworddancer on January 7, 2011 - 12:13pm

Installed Gimp 2.6.11 rev3 and ran on windows xp with PCtools Spyware Doctor.
During Gimp portable start-up Spyware Doctor blocked a malicious file the details of which are:

    HeurEngine.ZeroDayThreat
    f:\portable apps\portableapps\gimpportable\app\gimp\lib\2.0\plug-ins\print.exe

    SD provided the following description:
"Attempts to download malicious files to the local computer and execute them"

Is Spyware Doctor being over sensitive or is there a security issue with the download?

    Thanks in advance

    GIMP: Mysterious Conflict

Hello, I'm having some issues running Gimp Portable.

Whenever I try to run the program, it gets to

    Querying new Plug-ins

& begins sending me numerous errors.

    Specifically:

    *.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Whereas the *.exe would be (I assume) every single file in this directory:
    C:\~\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins

    GIMP Portable Add-ons

    Submitted by sag47 on October 22, 2010 - 9:02pm

I created a small project for adding on to Gimp Portable. I use Gimp as a professional and these add-ons are a must for me. I decided to create a small archive which would be easy to install into Gimp Portable.

Let me know if anyone has any questions. I may make a portable app out of it but I'd have to create my own custom installer because the PA.c Installer won't pack it since it's not a complete App... Just an add-on for an app.

Install the GIMP Help on 2.6?

    Submitted by Moonbase on October 10, 2010 - 10:16am

    Since such simple things as

    apt-get install gimp-help

don’t work on Windows, does anyone have some insight for me if (and how) it is possible to install the latest GIMP Help into the portable version 2.6.11?

I’d prefer using both English and German versions, switched by PA’s language setting (like GIMP’s GUI language itself), if anyhow possible.

    Any suggestions?
