Portable GIMP won't load any images besides .xcf

PortableGIMP is unusable for me as it won't open any other file format other than .xcf and I get an "unknow image format" error on .PNGs, .JPGs, etc.

This is a known issue with GIMP (see references below), but I've never experienced it with PortableGIMP until now. I haven't used PortableGIMP since at least last summer so this bug was introduced since then.

GIMP: Diffrent fonts?

Submitted by bo0m on August 31, 2009 - 11:59am

I've been using portable gimp to do my photo editing for a while now, and I've always wondered if there was a way to either add or change the fonts available in the text option?

I've tried downloading fonts into my windows font folder, but no luck. also, I've tried to find a font folder in the gimp folders to see if its a way to add more fonts to the program, no luck either.

If anybody knows a way, please fill me in.

Please & thank you

Gimp is a Trojan? [Resolved as a FP]

I use ClamWin Portable, and it says this about portable Gimp.

J:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\bin\gimp-2.6.exe: Trojan.Agent-121386 FOUND
J:\Vista\Portablepps\GIMPPortable_2.6.7_Rev_3.paf.exe: Trojan.Agent-121386 FOUND

False positive? If so, how can I be sure?

[Resolved: update to latest db, 9727, Clam Has confirmed a False Positive, see Below, Mod Tim 08/23/09 2:30 CDT USA]

[Fixed] GIMP 2.6.7 Rev 2 - Script-Fu crashes...

I installed over 2.6.6 and had a problem where EVERY plugin 'stopped working' (had to kill the GIMP tree with process explorer...)

I then deleted the whole GIMP folder, and re-installed...

Now only script-fu crashes...but the window still opens.
If I try to start it (right click -->script fu...) then it warns me about the failure and tells me to restart it.

2 re-installs have not solved the problem...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Can you change the GIMP Default Save to location?

By default, GIMP saves all new files to X:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\bin.
If you save a file to a different location, GIMP will remember that, but only for that session; if you close GIMP, and then re-open it, it will once again save all new files to X:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\bin.

Not an awful problem, EXCEPT:
When you update GIMP Portable, it blows away the bin folder, and any files you accidentally saved there are lost forever.

I lost a number of files when I just upgraded to 2.6.7.

Gimp Portable Background Window

Submitted by Judebox on July 23, 2009 - 5:09am

Hi all !
I'm new on this forum and I have one question.
I have installed Gimp Portable 2.6.6 and the 2 plugins "Background Windows" and "Photoshop Layout".
The second one is well working but the first one seems to do nothing: when I open two pictures, I have to tabs in the Windows taskbar...
Is there any other thing to do after the plugin installation ?
Thanks !!
