GIMP 2.6.8 doesn't work on Windows 2000?

Submitted by ottosykora on January 1, 2010 - 8:59am

Have downloaded few times the new gimp 268 today, the file looks OK so far.
It does install normal, but when trying to run it, nothing big happends.

Worse , it does interfere with the portable apps plattform somehow, this one appears after an attempt to run gimp 268 only as black square.

This all on w2k, have no XP at this moment here to check it.

I right click on a brush and try to make an eliptical... but the following error comes up
Error while executing script-fu-make-brush-elliptical:

Error: Procedure execution of file-gbr-save failed:
Could not open 'F:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable\Data\settings/brushes/e20x20.gbr' for writing: No such file or directory

Can someone fix that? It's no fun not to have a feature because gimp is looking in the wrong place and also, forward slashes wont help Blum

Portable GIMP won't load any images besides .xcf

PortableGIMP is unusable for me as it won't open any other file format other than .xcf and I get an "unknow image format" error on .PNGs, .JPGs, etc.

This is a known issue with GIMP (see references below), but I've never experienced it with PortableGIMP until now. I haven't used PortableGIMP since at least last summer so this bug was introduced since then.

GIMP: Diffrent fonts?

Submitted by bo0m on August 31, 2009 - 11:59am

I've been using portable gimp to do my photo editing for a while now, and I've always wondered if there was a way to either add or change the fonts available in the text option?

I've tried downloading fonts into my windows font folder, but no luck. also, I've tried to find a font folder in the gimp folders to see if its a way to add more fonts to the program, no luck either.

If anybody knows a way, please fill me in.

Please & thank you
