Opening an encrypted file doesn't open a password window

Submitted by Clemensot on May 31, 2009 - 9:06am

Hello,

When I try to open an encrypted file there is no window popping in and asking me a password, I'm just asked to select a program in a list to open the file. And when I choose Toucan the console appears ans disappears quickly.
(What is strange is that it worked before)

What can I do ?

Command line freezes

Submitted by supermegapollo on May 29, 2009 - 11:40am

Hi.

I have been using Toucan for a long time. I recently updated it with the 2.1.0 version, and my backup scripts just get stucked (at the DOS command prompt) right in:

Welcome to the Toucan command line system.

10:26:01 Starting

Creating file list, this may take some time.

I have to mention that the same scripts were working as intended with the previous version.

Does anyone know if the syntax of the scripts has to be updated?
(The help provided with the application doesn't mention anything about that)

Regards

Toucan 2.1.0 Help Manual under Help Tab is missing

Submitted by USBuser on May 26, 2009 - 10:43am

Toucan 2.1.0: Clicking on "Help" tab yields a blank screen under all three tabs "Content," "Index," and "Search." Help Manual is missing or not linked to program.

Running under Win2K, SP4 (though this shouldn't matter).

The "Help.html" brings up a copy of the Toucan Support webpage, which says to click on the "Help" tab - which, again is blank.

Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Backup my files : sync or backup ?

Submitted by killergege on May 22, 2009 - 8:37pm

Hi !

I downloaded Toucan a few hours ago and since I'm playing with it.
Here is what I want : I want to be able to backup all the important files present on my computers (from several locations), which represent hundreds of files (there is a lot of small files).
This operation will be manual and I don't need incremental or history.

Here are my problems :

Rules and regexp driving me crazy

Submitted by CarlosCastaneda on May 22, 2009 - 11:42am

Could you please give a detailed description of valid characters and expressions of a regexp and how they are interpreted/applied.

Some example that behave very strange:
Files to exclude: "*"
Folders to exclude: "*"
Loactions to always include: "*b"

Using this rule matches file with "b" within the filename, even in subfolders although these are being excluded. Considering this a regexp I'd expect that only files named "b" should be considered.

Another example:
Folders to exlude: "*"

When I run this rule then all files are exclude but the only folder has been created.

Status bar

Submitted by FoxyStrut on May 19, 2009 - 9:49am

Hi all

It is not a big deal, but just to let you know that my new Toucan status bar indicates that the job is done much before the end (i.e. after the status bar reaches its end, Toucan continues to copy files).

Cheers

Toucan 2.0.7 upgraded to 2.1.0 can not backup file larger than 1gb

Submitted by Eris667 on May 18, 2009 - 9:50pm

Recently upgraded to T2.1.0
Win XP 64 would crash at approx 1Gb of compressed file
error in Toucan.exe, and 7za would keep running in the background until terminated

I have gone back to T2.0.7 and it is working fine

I backup my 4Gb Thumb drive weekly (PA, basic files, no large files)

If you need further information please let me know and I can install it again,

Thanks for providing these incredible programs !

More detail like log for preview before sync.

Submitted by nicedreams on May 18, 2009 - 7:53pm

I started giving Toucan a try and I'm starting to really like it a lot. The only issue I have right now is that there is no preview of what will happen before you tell the program to do it.

Like I have two drives with MP3s, one being a backup drive, and I want to mirror the music directory from one drive to the backup drive that already has a 4 month old copy. I would like to see a detailed log of what the program is going to do before I just start trusting 200GB of MP3s to this program.
